    Stunning turn of events

    AFD news

Unconfirmed reports this morning out of Ottawa are saying that in a stunning turn of events the Minister of Agriculture Chuck Strahl will announced tomorrow that he is setting aside the results of the recently announced vote results on barley marketing under the Canadian Wheat Board. The Minister is also said to be considering whether or not to go ahead with expanding the Canadian Wheat boards mandate and scope of operations to allow the Wheat board to market all grains and oilseeds produced in the western provinces of Canada.

This wouldn't happen to have something to do with today's date now would it?

I have heard the CWB talk of this before. Some of the customers when buying our wheat, ask for canola or pulses as well. The board of course can not sell these commodities.
The Combine to Customer course I took a while back was where I first heard of this agenda from the board. The board asked if the question at that time to all of us there: What do you think of the idea of the board selling a "larger variety of commodities, by choice and not have a monopoly ?"
The majority responce at that time was....thats fine, as long as we get choice in our wheat then as well......It has to go both ways....

From further on in todays article from AFD news.

Minister Strahl when reached today for comment said "After careful review and discussion within cabinet and with senior trade officials and following discussions with Minister of Justice Nicholson, it is the position of Canada's new goverment that removing the monopoly on Western Canadian Wheat and Barley sales will be not possible without a change to the current wheat board act, due to the issues surrounding passing changes to the act during this session of Parliment. It was then decided that rather than removing the wheat board monopoly on Barley sales at this time a full blanket inclusion policy would meet our stated objectives of equal treatment for all producers of grains and oilseeds with the CWB jurisdictional area and we will be moving ahead with this policy in time for implementation within the upcoming crop year. Canada's new government remains commited to the promise of equality in marketing of Western Canadian grains and oilseeds that was part of our election campaign."

Organic rumors are that Monsanto will shortly announce (AFD)that they have hired David Orchard, well known NFU supporter, as their fulltime consultant on organics.

Mr. Orchard will hopefully possess some skill in litigating against emerging poitical parties, and has shown the ability to compromise in order to change political direction, should his new positoin require those skills.

His salary will reflect his skills, so AFD says.

Stewart Wells announces full NFU support to Nafta and the WTO. "Trade barriers do not help farmers in Canada earn a better living and seriously harm third world countries." said Wells, adding, " We need to transition our supply manged producers as quickly as possible to the open market."

Wild Rose Agricultural Producers decided today to stop their praise of the cwb and it's agenda of undermining the property rights of farmers across the west.

The board of directors unanimously decided that by teaming up with KAP and APAS in the past, that they have lost their way and been overly influenced in their support of the cwb.

There was great regret of their support of the board and their resolutions to provide more power and authority by the cwb at the federal gov't level.

The consensus was that even though some of their policies sounded good on paper, when it came down to it they were becoming nothing but pawns of the cwb's culture of entitlement.

                AFD News - Saskatoon

" Wi will strinten da wit bord, ind mick da bord bedder dan e'ver, wi will dafit da dorys in e'vry radin in da wist" Dion boomed to the over thousand strong cheering crowd.

"His command of the English language is so impressive and to be in his very presence is akin to being with Churchill in London in May of 1940" fawned M.O. Nopolly, as he spoke of Stephan Dion's speech today to thousands of farmers in Saskatoon. Borrowing from Churchill, Dion said" Wi will fit in da ouse, Wi will fit in da courts, Wi will fit in da midia, Wi will not ever sireindeer." Another Dion admirer, Sin Gal De'esk blushed "To know you were there at such a historical event and to be able to tell your grandchildren about it, it's just amazing"

In what some here are comparing to Martin Luther King's "I have a dream" speech, Dion spoke with such clarity and conviction and with his in-depth grasp of the inner workings of Canada's grain industry, even die hard opponents of the cwb seem to openly tremble with fear when asked about the Liberal leaders threat to end any chance of marketing freedom for prairie wheat and barley growers. Long time choice advocate Real Mark Et worries that his dream to sell his own grain without going to jail may never be realized. "It seems that Stephan Dion can move mountains with his words" Mr. Et said, "I can even get caught up in his enthusiasm for total Liberal domination of our grain industry"
