    my intentions are
    2200 acres wheat
    1600 acres barley 50%feed 50% malt
    700 canola
    75 lupins
    200 vetch
    400 triticale

canola and vetch in the ground will wait for weeds for another 5 to 7 days as more rain is forecast tommorow and next week hopefully filling in the gaps for the few who missed out

seeding across most of aust will be hell for l;eather late next week mostly wheat barley and canola

Incognito this is way of topic and should be in adifferent section of agriville but are farmers sons leaving school and doing college then coming home on the farm or is there a mass exodous of young farmers from the land as there is here in aust.
Myself i have 3 sons aged 12 to 5 and really only think one will have a career in agriculture.

        thanks in advance just curious

It is huge problem here too. Quality of life in rural areas has been altered as most rush towards the city when they retire and the infrastructure deteriorates as those left cannot sustain it.

The oil patch is swallowing up agriculture graduates in western Canada. How do you argue with $120,000 per year (in the oil patch) with a 24-year old who has a 4-year ag degree? Farm boys have great work ethics and you don’t have to teach them to think.

Our youth has listened to 10 years of bitchin at home about no money in farming.

Rural depop is going to get worse.

In Saskatchewan, the rush to the cities is causing a housing shortage. People aren’t coming here because we have a socialist government.

In the paper here on the weekend, there was an article about ag. students in agriculture who were going back to the farm ….less than a handful in the class of 70.

Curious – which of your three sons is most interested in farming? Oldest – Middle or Youngest?

Talk about the housing shortage, my father just sold a condo in Saskatoon Sask. for 177,000, just a couple years ago it was worth only 80,000. So was a good sale as it was also 25 years old.

had more good follow up rains in aust so we are on track for above average yields one would think but you know farming always something from left field
