How bad really was the frost?

From down under the US crop each year lives and dies about 3 times plus numerous other problems but they always seem to cut good crops so in reality how bad was the frost.
I do understand it may not be until harvest when true extent is known.
Seems the markets have it factored in.

Below is a website on US crop conditions with emphasis on HRW wheat.

    http://www.agweb.com/get_article.aspx?src=gennews&pageid=135726

Kansas - Wheat condition was rated 19 percent very poor, 18 percent poor, 24 percent fair, 25 percent good, and 14 percent excellent. Wheat freeze damage reports indicate 25 percent of the wheat has not been damaged, 24 percent received light damage, 26 percent received moderate damage, and 25 percent received severe damage. Reporter comments continue to indicate that early planted and early maturing wheat varieties appear to have experienced more freeze damage and later planted wheat appears to have escaped severe freeze damage.

Texas - Current indications continue to show that wheat damage from the previous cold front was much less than anticipated. As temperatures continue to increase, producers will be able to conduct further assessment of freeze damage.

Soft red winter is the one in most question now. No comments in this newsletter.

I saw pictures of frozen wheat heads, that has to be damaged badly. In 04 when it froze the damage did not seem to bad until harvest. Then we went out and got ckicken feed instead of wheat. It is to early to tell.
