    Reality check:

Now that there has been a couple days in the 20C's - anyone have canola hit hard by frost last week?

Their dead in the canola stubble were seeding yet. Didn't spray these fields either.
One neighbor reseeded his Barley I think he should have waited another day or to.

      Incognito,

We found Disk seeding equipment allowed the most Canola damage from frost because the insulation from the straw is much greater with less dirt disturbance. Some years a disk machine lost 50% of the Canola stand from the frost... where a paired row 5" would have very little frost damage @ -6 to -8C.

          ColevilleH2S,

This is one of the biggest reasons we gave up on disk machines!

In Northern Alberta that extra heat the ground disturbance creates and retains should not be ignored... especially if you plant Canola. We found out the hard way...

and I often would like a disk machine again...

but until global warming rids us of spring frosts...

it just is an expensive problem in cold springs!

The volunteers here seem to have come back to green from the yellow.
