    Funny Spring Weather.

We finally finished seeding yesterday morning and compared to last years June 4 year before May 31 and frost year of June 12 I guess we did OK. Also extra 1000 Acres.
Now Big question I have is how much Canola is really not going to get into the ground.
I have clients who haven't seeded anything yet.
One neighbor of ours (who we will custom seed) is just starting today.
NE is worse and NW isn't far behind. And this is Canola country in Saskatchewan not Moose jaw or Rosetown or Swift current.
So Where will the real number come in for acreage and is the market seeing that.
Also Calgary north to Edmonton is also Behind I am being told.
Also why is May colder that April?

we are moving to the last fields this morning, one more canola and then some oats.....there will be lots of unseed acres in the Peace, and will be less canola than planned...now hot and dry but still plenty of water and mud in the fields...

I heard on a news article that only 60 percent of the canola is planted in Alberta. Sounds a little extreme to me, is that true?

Also Canola price is up this week.
Barley price and feed wheat price , questionable.
            CWB grains risky.
Early hybrid varieties availlable of canola.
            Lots of moisture.
            Can scratch it in.
I say canola acreage will be higher than expected.

It isnt that funny. Still 5 -6 inches dry soil then muck. Wont hold up a tractor without a cultivator. (not all the fields here, just all of mine) CRAP

SaskFarmer, we have still not turned a wheel. With another inch today, with creeks running for the third time full bore, we are screwed still. Makes me sick hearing you guys talk of 9 dollar canola! There is a very large area here in the heart of 40 bushel easy canola country that will not seed any more canola. Not that much has been seeded in the first place.
                  Cheers.

Turns out the soil wont hold up a 50 foot harrow behind a 875 either. Crops in before the snow look awesome, mine on the other hand, not so good. When is it to early for winter wheat?

Ron Winter wheat window is Mid August to Mid September. Remeber if you finally get on the land you want to chem fallow and leave the stubble. Winter wheat in the Parkland risky without. While I'm not as bad as you still got the sprayer stuck twice on high ground the other day. I have land where a water run has flowed continually all spring. Fertilizer dealer who was sold out of 5020 in the fall still has 5 pallets on hand.
