agstar77 wasn't Continental barley 10 years ago? I thought that was what help barley break $3.00. Just wonder where we would be if the CWB had not shut that one down

I think the continental market was in the spring of 1993 (I remember a 1.20/bu cash bid at AWP when the CWB screwed us again).

          Mole,

feed wheat FOB Yorkton is trading about $4.25. Softening a bit though, with corn down, a lot of buyers are switching.

Will the softening corn market pull down your 3.5 / bu fob barley bid. Is this bid for all types of feed barley?

hasn't so far. There is not enough barley to last til harvest, and some buyers wont switch to corn. This price is for all 48lb bly, probably not much discount for lighter stuff.

broker, I agree ther is very little barley left. Most producers dumped barley off borg a while ago to meet cash demands, and the fact that cwb pro's are absulutly horrible for malt and feed. Also very little cpsr left in the country.

ft, the PRO's are horrible, but I was also doing cash non board barley deals direct to maltsters for great prices! maybe they were using for feed...maybe not!

Broker, Were all of your feed barley deals for the maltster? Talked to a corn merchandiser today. 100 cars of corn offered for mid July delivery to southern Alberta rail siding for 48 cents US/bu over July corn 07 futures. Works out to about 175/mt cdn delivered feedmill or feedlot. Barley is trading for well over $4.00/bu Southern Alberta. With wheat and barley staying high you have to wonder when corn will dig in ,or will wheat and barley follow suit and drop like corn has in recent days.
