A lose - lose situation for the cwb

On Wed. July 25, the CWB and freinds make their case to keep barley under exclusive jurisdiction in court,

On Thursday, July 26, the market gets spooked on barley.

    Corn 6 cents
    Beans 6 1/2 cents
    Chi Wht 17 cents
    KC Wheat 14 3/4 cents
    Minny Wht 9 cents
    Oats 4 cents
    Canola 4.3 tonne
    Wpg Wht 3.5 tonne
    Dollar down hard

Barley -7.5 tonne Oct (limit down)

If the cwb wins in court, barley will be limit down for 3 or 4 days in a row.

If the government and real barley farmers win, barley will be limit up for 3 days.

This will provide all the proof needed to show everyone that the single desk costs farmers huge bucks,

And for those who have been trying to claim that the surge in barley prices have nothing to do with barley being taken away from the cwb, yesterday was proof enough, but next week will tell the tale for sure,

If the judge rules in the govts favour, farms win, the cwb loses.

If the judge rules in favour of the cwb, farmers lose, and the cwb still lose.

So AS, what happens to our new-crop feed barley sales at $3.50 , which we know darn well are backed off sales made outside the monopoly, if the cwb wins?

We're SOL, malt becomes a non issue, no one will deliver, feed tanks by $30/t, JRI and other barley sales will have been optional origin, so some one other than Western Canadian farmers will reap the benifits of high prices, and the cwb will become even more detested,

      then it becomes interesting,

the anger amoungst farmers will overflow into the streets, leaving the feds with little option other than convening an emergency session of parliament, buying off the Bloc in order to get this thing done quickly,

Me, I'll store my barley for a year until the feds properly and with extreme prejudice deal with the cwb, ie. repeal the act.

And if that doesn't happen, I'll start a new rotation of canola and oats only.

      I'm sick of this!

And if they convine that emergency session of parlement I hope they don't stop with barley. Get wheat and durum done right away too.
