How to find historical elevator wheat basis for us elevators?

I am looking at the FPC for wheat tonight from the CWB and I like the futures price, but I find that the basis is quite wide. I am considering doing a futures only and fixing the basis later on, but I am curious to see what happened to US basis on wheat in the 1995-1998 time frame (last wheat rally).

On the US forums that I visit, most farmers are complaining of wide basis on their wheat sales also (60 cents to $1.15/bushel).

Would be interesting to see if the basis started to improve on the last rally as harvest pressure dimished.

    Poorboy,

For the DPC, this would make sense, but on the FPC that is based on a supposed to be based on a PRO basis... it sure looks like the CWB is double dipping to me! Especially when thje DPC was/is not generally avaliable to growers.

Charlie and I have been following U.S. wheat basis levels for a while. Informa reports on them and produces graphs that show spot, last year and previous 3-year averages that they send us for comparison. Unfortunately, that is copywrited info that I can't pass on.

I've contacted USDA to see if they have a database showing the same or similar info. I'll report back if I find it.
