    Parliament

Mr Harper must face parliament and settle this now. Taking the coward's way out and shutting down parliament is a tactic reserved for Dictators. Let the chips fall were they may. If the Canadian people find the opposition wanting they will be destroyed in the next election.

You are correct, an election would have been best, but do you honestly believe Dion would win today? I mean this, do you honestly think this would not push Harper into majority territory? It was touch and go last election, Dion will not gain support over this.

We will find out how this all unfolds in Jan. Have a good christmass season without the political b/s hanging over our heads. One thing this will do is allow cooler heads to prevail and some interesting conversations over the holidays!

You know, this country chugs along, with or without Parliament. It makes little difference whether or not anyone is governing the nation. We are so tied to the excited states, that in reality, they make all our decisions for us. Who cares about Ottawa? Question period, what a sideshow for the masses!

Dictators are the ones who seize power without the consent of the people. Dions & companies banana republic will have to wait, and he will have to try and sell it to the people of Canada over the next couple of months.

Say goodbye to the Liberal Party agstar, people don't like their votes being stolen from them.

You may be right about the end of the Liberals . The reform is gone, The PCs , the alliance party are gone, but who will replace the Liberals ? A new coalition of more liberal minded people? The future is not ours to see , whatever will be will be. There must always be an opposition or we will end up like Alta , with a King.

Franny did you attend school ?
              (maybe you were home schooled)

Evidently you missed the days when our teacher talked about Canada being a constitutional democracy.
The events the last few days are democracy in action. You elect a party to rule and they are Allowed to Govern if they have confidence of the house.

Mus, I was taught to think, not just regurgitate Liberal talking points.

There is nothing Democratic about this attempted coup, and the public knows it. That's why they are so angry. They know when someone is trying to pull a fast one and do an end run on their right to elect a government.

And you know what, the longer the three stooges try to sell this thing the angrier the public is going to get.

So go ahead Mus, keep trying to convince people how their vote didn't count. See how far it gets you.

The saddest outcome of this whole mess is that the Conservative party has all but guaranteed they will never have a majority. They were hoodwinked again and haven"t realized it yet. To form any majority government you need at least some support in Quebec. Mr Harper has all but assured he will never get any votes in Quebec.

And if they were smart they would show him the exit ramp, so he could go back to being the self proclaimed leader of Canadian Citizens Coalition.

Heh can an organization be called a "think tank" if everything they say is Stupid ?

What you ding dongs don't realize is that while the separatists are Quebecers all Quebecers are not separatists. And the only ones who are trying to pretend that they are, are those in favour of the separatist coalition.

That's where the real insult is coming from and that's who's going to pay the political price in Quebec. Quebec federalists are not going to be any more happy with the Liberals jumping into bed with the separatists than rank and file Canadians.

                            And...

"Pollster Ipsos Reid asked Canadians who would "best be able to manage Canada's economy during these troubling times" and three of five -- or 59% -- named Mr. Harper over a coalition headed by Liberal Leader Stephane Dion."

                            http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=1032812

                            Then there's this one...

"OTTAWA - Almost three-quarters of Canadians say they are "truly scared" for the future of the country and a solid majority say they would prefer another election to having the minority Conservative government replaced by a coalition led by Stephane Dion, a new Ipsos-Reid poll says.

The poll also indicates Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his Conservatives would romp to a majority victory with a record 46 per cent public support if an election were held today."

http://www.leaderpost.com/Political power struggle scaring Canadians Poll/1032813/story.html

Me thinks the coup is over, Harper just won.
