I'm betting Dion doesn't last another week. After running one of the worst elections in Liberal history, his bungled coup has now made the party a laughing stock in Canada.

Liberals don't like to think of themselves as hard left wingers let alone separatist sympathizers. With Bob Rae running around the country now reinforcing both of these negatives it's going to be a long time before the damage done to the brand will be forgotten.

You really have to wonder if good ole Saskatchewan is the leader of all that is good in this country. A few years ago some liberal mellonhead (I can't remember his name he was a doctor) went to bed with an NDPer and formed a coalition to govern sask. They did so for a few years but the liberal party is now defunct/extinct in Sask.

Here's hoping the same thing happens nationally. Maybe the ndp are good for something. Its certainly shows the liberals can't or will not learn from their mistakes.

        Well played Harper.

CP, back to your original point on the irony of parliment taking an extended holiday during this challenging time.

I know some people are trying to pin this on PMSH for trying to pass some controversial bills. However, even in a minority government do we really want the ruling party calling their plays out of the oppositions playbook??
For the so-called coalition, can they really look in a mirror and say that their attempted coup has or has the possibility of improving Canada's economic outlook?
I know Dion really believes this but the fact that he managed to get enough support to even bring this to the table shows how completely blinded by the hunger for power and just plain stupid alot of these mps really are.

I know we just had an election but I really believe the next two months are up to us as Canadians to make it very clear what we think of this whole mess.
Public pressure is what will cause this entire coalition to slither back into whatever cess pool it crawled out of.

Also back to the original point, are the boys and girls in Parliament really the firefighters or are they just adding more fuel?

I tend to think the later these days, so maybe its not such a bad thing that they're on the sidelines.

Having said that I heard Tony Clement the other day talking about how they still have money left from the previous budget to bail out the auto sector if they decided to do so.

Actually the way Dion almost cries lately when he is in the hot seat it seams he has some sort of hidden agenda. Could that be the environment? Notice how he does not mention much about it lately? But wants power any way he can get it.
