I attended the rally at the Ledge in Edmonton today.

A very good point was made... and it was this:

It may be legal to smoke a carton of cigs... Drink a 40 of whiskey; tonight (in the appropriate place)... but it is not healthy... it does not edify our bodies... or do anyone any personal good!

THE Same goes for the coalition and what giving into this temptation would do for democracy in Canada.

It is not healthy for our democracy...

It does not edify your Canadian public voting body...

The coalition will not do anyone of us any good! Spending money we do not have... simply to spend... to comfort Big Unions/Multinationals... flexing their muscles;

This just simply breaks down trust in our Canadian parliamentary system!

Not that I disagree but locking the doors of parliament to avoid a vote is certainly not democratic and we all Know it. Two wrongs don't make a right.

What gets me wonder is how to go about healing fractures when citizenry like dmlfarmer scold AV'ers for calling the Coalition separatists, and think we're over the top, and yet ignore the likes of their own Coalitionists,like Scott Reid, in the Globe and Mail:

First things first: take him out.

After all, Stephen Harper is the most dangerous animal lurking in the jungles of Parliament. He is a threat to the future viability of the Liberals. A blood simple opponent of the NDP and the only serious contemporary challenge to the Bloc Quebecois. Without him, his party is an unlikely combination of Reform Party leftovers, Harris refugees and Red Tory desperates. They don't matter or even exist without Mr. Harper. So before you think a moment longer, opposition leaders, think on that.

And if that's not compelling enough, remember: He doesn't play to win. He plays to conquer. Under his guidance, the public interest is always subjugated to his personal political advancement. And he poisons Parliament with an extreme, bare-fanged breed of partisanship that has no hope of repair until he is banished.

This becomes relevant because suddenly, he is weak. In fact, at this particular moment, he is almost unable to defend himself. Owing to a ridiculously ill-considered act of hubris, he has laid himself vulnerable to his opponents. Their imperative could not be more clear: kill him. Kill him dead. Do not, whatever you do, provide him with an opportunity to extend his hold on power. Because you can be damn certain he will never again be so reckless as to give you a chance to finish him off.

Fate tends to be grudging with gifts of this significance. To ignore it would be an error every bit as historic as the one Mr. Harper himself has made.

So don't get fancy. Don't get confused. And don't get weak in the knees. If you don't put Mr. Harper in his grave, he'll put you in yours.

The next question is how. Nothing should be taken for granted. The guy has bought himself a week. And he'll use it to his advantage. He'll spend money, time and every ounce of energy to make it difficult on the Opposition.

Already, he's abandoning the liability of his own electoral financing proposals. He'll further correct his mistakes by having Jim Flaherty tease out talk of stimulus. He'll attack the legitimacy of an unelected "Prime Minister Dion." He'll turn the Liberal caucus loose on itself. And he will have success in rallying public opinion to his side.

Not a word about articles like this being "extreme" from Coalition supporters, is there now? And our
"national" media printed this article. What partisan scum they are. What a disgrace the NP is to our society. And every coalition supporter's silence endorses these kind of actions.

John Manley: Stephane Dion is delusional

Headlined on Bourque is the most forceful statement for Stephane Dion to step aside as leader of the Liberal Party, and for the coalition to break apart, yet. And it comes from former Liberal heavyweight and Deputy Prime Minister John Manley.

Money quote 1: "As a Liberal, I believe the first step for my party is to replace Stéphane Dion as leader with someone whose first job is to rebuild the Liberal Party, rather than leading a coalition with the NDP."

Stop with the coalition talking points already AS.

Parliment was recessed - For a Few Weeks - so that your little leaders couldn't overthrow the government.

Why is it that you are so impatient to have this coup in place so fast? Why the fear of waiting until January? Why the fear of going back to another election? (and don't insult us with the old line of "it costs $300m when your guys want to blow out $30B to the union leaders right now)

Alberta's people in general love Canada... which includes the People of Quebec.

If the opps didn't have the coalition bomb to drop... which never had any legit points from square one... parliament would still be sitting.

This was a power pandering farce... Jack and Gills out to make political hay... and Dion was too foolish to see he was going to be the idiot standing out in the cold with no clothes on.

Too bad Bob and Iggy... no... if they are stupid enough to follow Dion... they deserve to stand outside looking in ...with no clothes on too!!!

Isn't careless use of money what got the world into this mess in the first place?
A 30 billion stimulus is likely only a drop in the bucket of things to come anyway. Stopping and thinking sometimes is the better than grudging ahead, sorta like continuing working when you are over tired, could be going backward instead of forward.

In regards to benchmarking that question was asked quite some time ago here on Agriville to a sitting director who said he would go and get that information on how the sales book is benchmarked I think we are all still waitng for that answer.

I believe the lack of an answer was the answer.

Toronto Maple Leafs Win Stanley Cup!!!


Canada was stunned Monday when it was announced that The Stanley Cup will be awarded to the Toronto Maple Leafs, possibly as early as December 8th.
The cup will be stripped from from 2008 playoff champions the Detroit Red Wings and be awarded to the Leafs, who didn't even make the playoffs.

How is this possible, Canadians ask?
Well, the Leafs have formed a coalition with eastern conference semifinalists the Montreal Canadians, and conference quarter finalists the Ottawa Senators, now outnumbering the Red Wings.

According to current Leaf coach Ron Wilson "the Red Wings have lost the confidence of the league and should hand the cup over immediately to our coalition".

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman is cutting short a European trip to try to resolve the unprecedented hockey crisis that could force a second playoff series, or see an opposing team coalition take the cup.
