It would seem that the election had more to do with a referendum on single desk
that a sharing of vision for the CWB/highlighting leadership capability. The
results are there however.
I am likely more interested in what the new directors will push for going forward
and the likely impact on CWB operations starting with barley. Opportunities are
available today for malt barley but likely at below the current PRO. So the choice
is to protect the PRO by restricting delivery access or present a price (could be a
rejuvenated cashplus to reflect a particular sale opportunity or
specification)/allow farmers to make a decision about contracting/delivery.
Not wanting to hijack the thread to a new direction but this is what is needed
from the new board of directors - strategic thinking and a commitment to
monitoring performance of the operations side.

Didn't get to vote this time but would have.
4000 acres
3 permit books. Mine, son has one and the landlord has one for his own reasons. Landlord is not active in management and probably would not of voted- maybe would have if i prodded. All are 00 numbers. (Alberta)

This topic shows one glareing thing, votes need to be weighted on the amount of production per permit book. This would end all this b/s. It is insane to see some with 4 or 5 permit books on 500ac and the next with tripple or more the acres with one permit book. I could care less how the outcome would be at least it would be representitve of production. The more you grow the more there is at stake.

4 books. Grandparents each have one.
Me and my dad each have one, all have
the 00 prefix. I am positive that all
the votes cancel each other out. 300
acres between the grandparents 3500
between me and dad. Nothing will change
until the older generation lets us take
over the reins.

4500 acres one 00 permit book. Vote open market all the way. The CWB really is mostly for the old guys and the old way of have not thinking, but do know many young farmers that will repeat their fathers views. I don't believe 30 to 40 percent of farmers should be forced to sell through the board. 10 more years things will be very different they cannot have permit books forever. I know I won't be here forever either.
