Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hey its been one heck of a ride. From nothing to boom back to bust. From poor start in seeding to bin buster. well as the year comes to a close its nice to see one thing farmers together can change the world when were divided we fail miserably.
Larry's fertilizer buddy is one example of how showing each other what were getting quoted shows areas where farmers always pay to much. Example I use to get quotes from the Regina area for equipment and then price it at home always always on same equipment thousands less. Some area will always pay more and don't get that their are deals out their.
Have a great Merry Christmas (the hell with politically correct) and a Happy new year. Spend some time with your kids.

    SF3,

Its great when we can just 'Blog'... not think about being 'politically correct'... and let them letters roll!

Being a farmer is great... and dirt under our finger nails... helps keep our perspective on life!

Academic vegetation keeps us on our toes... and the media are NOT the average Canuck!

All the best for 2009... and keep the Christ in Christmas!!!

Saskfarmer3 I think that is the free market with competition that is lowering prices not the collectivization of farmers.

SF3, so we could use a "single desk" buying group to make deals for all our inputs? We need to act collectively, not divided in free open markets that charge what ever we will bear. It is less profitable to deal on our own. Is this what you are saying?

The CWB 'designated area' and 'single desk' are a very VERY long way from a voluntary co-operative that gives total freedom of transparent information.

No person is threatened with jail time... or even intimidation... let alone tongue lashing lectures on how stupid we are... to even think we have enough wisdom to sell our own produce.

And the saddest part of it all... is that the vast majority of 'designated area' growers believe that CWB verbiage... and fulfill this marketing curse put on us...

I had a grain dealer tell me just over a week ago... that I didn't have a clue... and could never market my own produce... just like the CWB system has told me thousands of times!

Until we treat each other with respect, dignity, and honour... we will not resolve these problems... or reach any where near the potential our communities could reach with genuine trust and faith in each other... and respect for each persons right to choose their own path!
