There is a juicy fund, with lots of eyes on it.

If an enrepreuneur puts a plan together and ASKS the farmer to invest his sum, with those who don't want to participate having their money returned, the c venture will start on a sound path.

Novel idea, isn't it? Asking.

As a side note, if the farm community has no say about their money,whether or not the farmer didn't know he had it, or forgot about it, it's still his money that was extracted, wasn't it,
you can bet future contributions will be curtailed before the grain ever gets loaded.

So when you wanted opinions, you really only wanted ones that agree with you. And anyone who doesn't agree with you is stupid or short-sighted. You're starting to sound a lot like CP

I still think the biggest gap is varietal research in crops that aren't covered by the private trade. The seed companies are already investing heavily in canola and the benefits are huge. We need greater investment in crops like oats, barley, wheat, flax, pulse crops. Research in value-added is also helpful, but putting up bricks and mortaris a much bigger risk. Research has huge payoffs but I agree with Pars that priorities need to be set by farmers, not government.

Haveapulse I am thinking they are right.
It is farmers public money that you think should be invested in value added. Yet Sask. Investment fund has done well. I think a better business model is one where you set up a prospectus and lure in investors which can be anyone and don't give anyone preferncial treatment to one group of investors(farmers for example). Don't pit the Prefered shareholders too much over common. Having value added business alone is all us farmers need. We don't need the preferencial treatment as that would be our downfall.

When farmers receive their overcharged funds back from the railways, who I believe should be responsible for paying for the redistribution if they do not appeal in time, or if they lose their appeal to the powers that be, then "haveapulse" do not give up on your vision. Tap yourself and hopperbin on the shoulder and pony up the respective $1000.00 and $5000.00 you're willing to part with along with your list of visionarys and builders. I've never been one to steal the harness off a nightmare in anyone's dream, but I can use any refund that is due to this farm.

To cure you malady, I would suggest you grab that clutch you took out today, and attach it to your arm when you are posting either your yearnings or u-tube on women. LOL

I do not believe this is a windfall or new found money for anyone. This money was taken from us. We paid in good faith that we were being charged for a service and that someone was keeping track that we were being treated fairly and getting good service for our buck.
I never agreed to the amount that I would be charged. Someone else told me I was going to pay and how much I trusted that they had done thier homework and would monator as they year went to see that I was not over paying.
Also someone else told me what I was going to do with my money if I was over charged. Could that someone have close ties to the WGRF?
Don't worry about where we will spend this money because with the checks and balances that are bestowed upon us now it will only be doubled or tripled by next year.

I don't believe for one minute that either CN or CP is going to hurry up and sit down to write a check of this size for anyone. If they are that crooked or have that bad of money management they will have loop holes covered.
We had better spend our time asking our MP's etal how this happened and what assurance do we get that it isn't going to continue to happen.

Makes me wonder how many other charges are over charged to me that I have no control over and obviously there is no one out there looking after the "interest of producers" on my behalf.

I am dissappointed that no one wishes to see opportunity to use this fund for building a new economy, but I must admit the opposition is indeed loud and clear.

We had a meeting last night about our biofuel project in the Battlefords, if anyone of you wish to join us and invest, we would welcome you.
Our farm will be putting our money into this project and doing our best to make the oppportunity become reality.

If we are successful we will have a project that will buy 300,000 tonnes of canola a year.

Although you may not agree, I happen to believe that when 300,000 tonnes of canola that would otherwise be shipped out bulk, and only make thre railroads and the port workers in Vancouver any more money, will in our plant become oil and bio diesel and canolaa creating an estimated 200 jobs in short term employment and 30 to 40 permament jobs, plus a diversified economy I happen to think this helps everyone.

The primary multiplication factor is 7 to 10x for every job created.

Just like the oil in Estevan benefites me up here because these projects pay taxes, but I note it is not in my backyard!

Taxes which provide a better standard of living for all of us.

However I will concede, if the idea does not fly here with a discussion board of folks in industry it will
not fly here.

We will wait for our money to be returned to us, as I expect those of you who have killed this idea intend to insur that we get our money out of the WGRF.

I hope you do, cause if I have to chose between
1/ leave
2/ return
3/ build and we just eliminated build
then 2/ is now my first choice.

What is so amazing to me is that given the opposition to this , if using other peoples money for the common good of all is such a vile idea how the CWB has survived this long?
