Livestock Producers Need Help

2003- along came BSE- and need for governement assistance to livestock producers. A certain group of lowly bureaucrats put pen to paper (statistics, projections, profiles, suggestions) and slipped the proposal under Goodale's door-- WOW- down the pipe it came---within 5 days we were accepting applications for a huge $80 a feeder injection to livestock producers. The orders were to get them paid correctly within 30days of receipt. More than 78% were paid on-time and the rest soon after. The Regina CAIS office delivered and wonders why it is so different today.

Livestaock guys do need help. First when they start paying retarded insurance premiums just like grain farmers. Second when they come to the realization that a 12 year old cow isn't worth as much as a heifer and they realize that they wrote the thing off when they bought it. As a grain farmer they call this recaptured depreciation.

They need help all right. Maybe a little understanding of the real world the grain farmers live in.
