    US Dollar will collapse!

What will it mean for Canadians when the US Dollar collapses?
If their at .45 cents to our .90 will they flood the world with cheap products like grain etc. Fertilizer is based out of the gulf in US dollars will it translate into Cheaper Canadian prices. OR will we crash and burn like them.
Simply I am starting to believe that were in for one hell of a ride on the Markets. Grain and Financial. Hm wouldn't it be funny if Cargill Viterra or Pioneers checks were no good for our grain because they couldn't get financing for themselves.
Maybe that's why there all pushing for farmers to prepay for products when booking!
No one knows for sure whats coming but if one is a betting man maybe building cash reserves and watching spending is the way to go in 2009.
Buffets doing it, he pulled money in good times and now is purchasing companies when times are poor.
Its hard to find a buyer for a $500,000.00 air drill if the sht hits the fan.
Land always has a value, but expensive property will drop.
Will housing prices stay high in the Cities if their are lines of unemployed.
What month will the reality hit that all the money pumped into globe to save companies was for nothing.
Why didn't the USA Canada Europe Dubai etc look at history, Japan had the same problem some 12 years ago or more and they still haven't got back into the full game.
    I hope I am wrong.

At some point interest rates will really start to jump in an attempt to counteract a dollar in freefall.

Why cant we learn from history. Or the ones who were their last time are two old to tell the few who would listen. The rest are to young and cant see it coming.
Try 22% interest on your fert bill and operating?

Why will the US dollar collapse? What makes you think the US is worse off then the rest of the world. In fact I think the US is in much better shape then many European and south east asian countries. As for 22% interest rates. It won't happen. We are in a world economy and we won't get there. Maybe 10%. Maybe. We are in a deflation economy right now. If we do go to 20%, great. Look at all the money you will make just leaving cash in the bank.

its all relative to the size of the economy. Its been talked about for months now that the US is NOT in as bad of shape as many other economies. I think you will see money flow into the US dollar and it may strengthen, not weaken. There is no sign of inflation either.

You probably failed history class vvalk.

The usdx has lost 96% of its purchasing power.

You are right though that all other currencies are losing purchasing power and help keep the usdx looking good.

                  All except one.

i am curious...i would have thought that the gov'ts of both US and Can...would actually live with inflation for a while..and not touch interest rates...every financial pundit is telling people to save and pay down debt...if everyone does that to the nth degree...wont a further slide into recession/depression be a self fulfilling prophecy?? do you reckon that massive DE-flation is a better alternative??

i tell ya why i think the US will continue to throw money at this thing...Obama's handlers DONT want to see the US crumble when the "watch" belongs to the first black president of the US...can you imagine what the rednecks would do sensationalizing THAT?? I am not saying you guys are WRONG...i am just wondering which is better deflation or inflation?? vs
