    Moderator?

What is a moderator? I thought it was somone who monitors the the chat too see it is on topic. This is a Commodity Market forum not a Political, CWB rant, Summer Party planner, or a Parsley blog advertising page. When was the last time someone posted somthing ABOUT MARKETS? THEY ARE TANKING AND WE ARNT EVEN TALKING ABOUT THEM. Oats under $1.70, Canola getting closer to $8.00, Yellow peas cant get over $6.00, not even goint to talk board grains because that cat is dead, are these prices the worst we are going too see or should we be contracting as fast as we can before they catch up with oil.

If you have an idea how to encourage real marketing topics, I am all
ears. As with markets, demand is what ultimately drives what is
    posted.

Perhaps new directions and topics require new ideas and new
thinking. I would appreciate any suggestions (send to Joe Dales)
about another moderator or more. Lee Melvill requested to have his
name pulled off the side given his new world about six months ago
with no action to date - something about being hardwired into the
    programing.

By the way, not offended. Realize I may be part of the problem but
none the less ask the same question you have every day. The only
suggestion I have is for you to post the questions/comments on
market topics. If there were 5 market topics for every 1 CWB policy
rant versus the other way a round, the make up of Agri-ville
participants would change. You have to be prepared for no
responses but you have to keep trying.

Why do you need a moderator to start a new topic?

I hope you don't feel the CRTC needs to regulate the Canadian internet too.

        Breadwinner,

1.Please scroll down the entire page of topics.I believe I have initiated approximatley eight of them

And how many have you initiated?

2.And yes I do have a blog. At agriville's invitation, I might add. Agriville actually set it up for me in its' entirety. And also invited me to make a link to my blog on EVERY posting, which I do not do.

The good thing is you do not have to click on Parsley's Notebook.

        3. The third thing is your topic,
"Moderators" You will not find a better moderator, or more dedicated, than charliep. He is supremely knowledgeable, and your kind of comments are debilitating, and unfair to him. charliep would never defend himself, he is much too much of a gentleman, but I have no qualms about defending his remarkable dedication.

I'll thank him for you, since it is, indeed a thankless job.

        4. The good thing about a thread, breadwinner, is the person posting, such as yourself, can chose what we wants to talk about. I notice you didn't chose peas or oats or canola. You chose moderators. I presume that is where your interests lie.

If you want to discuss peas, post a thread about peas. I am replying because your topic is moderator.

And stay off the topics we post that you don't like. It's so much nicer for the rest of us.

I will add one more thing, breadwinner. This site is not simply a forum to discuss prices. It is where both real and virtual friends meet. I've never met hopperbin, or silver or boarderbloke, or Northfarmer or wilagro, etc. but I'd very much enjoy it if I did. I have met chaff and gregpet and adamsmith and wedino and tom4cwb, etc and enjoyed it immensely

We have virtual coffee together. We meet. We have conversation. Just like in real life. We're not perfect; rather we are like characters in Cheers.

So, uh, Lighten up, Rebecca. lol

Chill out Bread, there is nothing stopping you or anyone else from starting a thread about what you're interested in.

But trying to shut down other peoples interest's and conversations here isn't going to win you any friends.

              Breadwinner,

I am in awe. Did you mean what you just wrote?

We just hit a market down draft... that most here don't find at all unexpected... with oddles of opportunities to sell old and new crop at decent prices over the past month and a half... and you blame us?

Markets go up and down. That is a fact of life. Please don't blame us!

Now... go have a GOOD day!

              Grin (> :{

PS... I think Charlie & Joe do a great job herding cats... really... don't you?

SF3 sorry to include you in the group, I allways read your posts they are interesting and informative. I guess I am just sick of talking CWB&^&^$&^spit on the floor. My parents have allways said "get used to it we will never get a rid of it". I thought they were just not forward thinkers but now Im starting to think they might be right. It might just be imposible to get rid of. Hope the markets spring back up to take the stress off next years crop. Maybe somday hell will freeze over for willgro and burburt and we will get our turn.

As one that has occasionaly posted on here , though more so in the past, Breadwinner isn't completely off base in his feelings.
But there are a few things to consider in as far as a "true " mod is concerned on this site vs others . On Agriville though Charlie is posted as a moderator from my understanding he cannot function as a true mod who can delete and move posts and in effect control the flow and content of a site he can only forward requests to the site owner which is cumbersome and not always very effective as well he is under certain other considerations which may or may not influence his abilities to work smoothly as a mod.
That said I believe we owe him thanks for his efforts here and hope that he continues on. ( because he's likely the best for a bad job)
I suspect he is as frustrated as you breadwinner at times in that this forum wanders so far astray from true pure commodity marketing as it tends to do. This site must like in the rest of society we can only ask for people to police themselves and hope that they show decent restraint and or respect for others and their viewpoints as well as the intent of the site.
Agriville is my view functions much like the rest of the farming community outlets in that a few people who either have axes to grind or too much time on their hands are present and tend to push an agenda one way or the other no matter what the topic but there are also those that have a genuine interest in making agriculture a better industry for us all . You just have to winnow the wheat from the chaff on a place like this . ( though at times there's not a lot coming in the hopper)

                          cott,

                          When you said,

"The Ramblings of Bill Duke kind of pissed me off on your site pars." ,

well cott, I assumed you were addressing me.

So I posted your comments on my site, as an entry all on it's own.

Your words referred to the PN editorial, which I assumed would be best suited being rebutted on the same page as the editorial, for easier following for readers. Money/banking is a complex matter.

PN can also serve as an overflow for relief from non-commodity marketing issues,(ieCWB) as is the basis of Breadwinners complaints

I also have permission from Agriville to copy any quotes from commodity marketing to post on PN.

                          So I did.

Perhaps the proper thing to do was to post your comments in the COMMENTS sections directly below Duke's Editorial.

Or perhaps just leave your comments unattended on PN.

But I also observed that first time readers to AV would find it difficult to make sense of the origin of your comment to me.

cott, with your permisssion, I will be glad to cut and paste AND repost your comments in the Commentary section below the Editorial Commentary to which you refer, on PN, if you allow me to. (or you can do it yourself) Just say so. parsley2008@live.ca.

Or alternately, you can make fresh comments in the commentary section. Or write a formal rebuttal, if that turns your crank. I previously offerred that option to you.

The author of the Editorial is more than welcome to make the same request and provide the same permission. parsley2008@live.ca

                          Or write fresh comments.

It may be that one or the other, or both, will choose not to to have their original comments reposted, or post again in response to this topic. And that's fine, too.

Decide what you are comfortable with, and we'll go from there.

I think we need a new topic list addition, CWB Marketing. All non CWB comments should be posted here. Discuss all other market factors here. Perhaps we might be able to sort through the information better. The Harper minority was truly a sad day for me. The only hope for change was a majority. Until that happens all we can do is express dissatisfaction. Sorry, it's so political.

Thought maybe somebody told you to take cottons soap box away.
