    weather

    Somewhere in these threads, there was a question about getting overnight precipitaition levels. I looked into this and was told the following:

    Environment Canada copyright's the daily data and sells. Buyers of the data can not redistribute daily data for select weather stations.

    The closest information is probably Environment Canada's site that has weekly data graphs. However, you'll see that it only has for one-two cities on the prairies.

    A Manitoba farmer just sent me an email pointing out this location which is probably closer to what you're looking for;
    http://www.aceweather.ca/mbweather.cfm
    It shows maps of precipitation for the previous day.

      Brenda,

      I had a look at this site, all very interesting!

      They show on July 13th that we got 1-2" of rain, where as some of our farm got nothing!

      On July 16th, they show very little rain, yet Fort Saskatchewan got 2" in an hour that day on top the 1.5" they got friday!

      I realize these reports are only estimates, but they must have big problems getting them accurate!!

      Something to remember when we are operating on thundershowers, and not general rain systems!

        Tom, as you know, I know nothing about weather forecasting or records. However I would expect that the information is gathered from the standard weather stations for Environment Canada, which would not include your farm. It may have another company's name on the page but I suspect the data would still be Env Canada. Just a guess.

          Brenda,

          My market garden friends had .2" since June 15, but 4 miles north of them they had 5"!!!!

          On this kind of rainfall event year, variability is the rule.

            Was on my favorite web page, tfc-charts.com and was looking on their new weather feature. Under highlights I found excellent weather summaries. It breaks it down into crops and/or regions. Covers Canada, U.S. and global - Check it out.
