    Farmers get the Shaft AGAIN!

Just got off the phone with Green Rep and he informed me that after 6 months the company will provide me with compensation for last falls part fiasco (sept 3 to Oct 25) the grand total of $8000.00 on a $45000.00 rental bill. The company regrets that it could not provide the parts needed and understands their is a law that no farmer should be down more than 72 hours they regret that they are not going to cover any more of the rental bill. DID Thank me for the $63,000.00 work order to the combine and my promt paying.
Laws are their for who? The answer is not the farmers but the companies.
I did not expect to get all the rent covered or even half but I did hope that after all the paper work etc. I would at least cover some. The answer is they will sell you equipment yet when they screw up its the farmer that gets the shaft.

Yes Insurance Covered it, It was a total implosion of one Combine. It was torn apart the first 6 hours and parts ordered. It took till 1st week in October to get all parts. Their is a law in Saskatchewan that dealers and companies have to get the farmer back in the field within 72 hours on newer equipment in busy season or try to accommodate the consumer. Problem was with the company they couldn't get parts to Regina and out. Screw ups on their part from head office in the USA to shipping screw ups in CANADA.
I did get to rent an over priced combine for all the fall.
Total i am out was insurance cost. plus rental over the insurance maximum. Real fault is with the company who couldn't get parts.
This is just a warning to all farmers these companies promise a lot.
Problem if we sue will take 5 years and a lot of lawyer costs to get same amount. They win.

I think a lot of times "they" bank on the fact, you'll have the risk of finding a lawyer to take the case and all the costs associated with suing them. Sometimes though, all it takes to get action, is a well written letter, with your arguments clearly stated "on the letterhead of your lawyer"! sometimes that's alota grease, for a small amount of money.

We bought a T9050 and a Flexicoil aircart from the U.S. end of Oct, 2007 with delivery prior to seeding 2008. They got us the manufacturer's fall program discount, just like our American cousins would receive. They did not discriminate against Canadians like on new auto sales where we were told the dealer couldn't sell on fear of having franchise pulled and, or fines. At the time, our dollar was $1.07 against theirs. Tractor, because we had factory ordered it with a PTO which could not readily be found, did not arrive until after seeding. They brought in an identical new T9050, less the PTO, from a dealer in Minnesota, who absolutely insisted that it had to be returned to him after spring seeding, for our free gratis use. We decided not to abuse their generosity to oblige, and only used it for 3.5 days, putting in the crop with our older unit. The aircart also didn't arrive as scheduled, and they provided us with a new, even larger cart. Same terms, and again we used it for 3.5 days before returning. I'd recommend blue paint dealers, although maybe we caught the right one. I've had a similar good story on the Canadian side of the border with a blue paint dealer.

If you buy paint a 1000 miles away expect to get parts from 1000 miles away.

I have red and Blue and Massey just 90km away with parts centres for two in city. But last night got another phone call having a meeting in one week with two higher ups. We will see how that goes. Pays to grumble some times.

SF3, we had a lot of problems with our 06 8010's and it was all documented. Trading in this fall we wanted CIH to step up and give us some $. First offer they gave was $5000/machine. Argued till it was almost too late to order new ones and finally ended up with $25000/machine. Should have been more but when they have you picking up the bar of soap with your pants down and they are holding the shaft... :-(
