Lots of opinion out there. Google sunspots global cooling. Here is one quote...Global warming (i.e, the warming since 1977) is over. The minute increase of anthropogenic CO2 in the atmosphere (0.008%) was not the cause of the warming—it was a continuation of natural cycles that occurred over the past 500 years.

The PDO cool mode has replaced the warm mode in the Pacific Ocean, virtually assuring us of about 30 years of global cooling, perhaps much deeper than the global cooling from about 1945 to 1977. Just how much cooler the global climate will be during this cool cycle is uncertain. Recent solar changes suggest that it could be fairly severe, perhaps more like the 1880 to 1915 cool cycle than the more moderate 1945-1977 cool cycle. A more drastic cooling, similar to that during the Dalton and Maunder minimums, could plunge the Earth into another Little Ice Age, but only time will tell if that is likely.

Don J. Easterbrook is Professor Emeritus of Geology at Western Washington University. Bellingham, WA. He has published extensively on issues pertaining to global climate change.

"... cost us big time" ?

The only thing that is going to cost us big time are the taxes these governments want to impose on everyone to fund more social programs and gov't employees. Do you really believe that if Canadians slash our co2 and hammer our economy back to the stone age, that the rest of the world will too? What would more co2 and a slightly elevated average temp. mean to your farm?

Tell us what you are doing to reduce your carbon usage mustard.

Our crops are going to need all the C02 they can get after the way the weather is treating us this spring.

Won't we all be happy when the polar bears have more ice? I really don't know which way this is going , but we must all plan for the worst either cooler or warmer, because humans have no influence on sunspot activity.

Silverback I knew you couldn't resist getting on this thread lol.
Well I am installing a wind turbine which will cut the greenhouse gases from electricity (produced from coal)

Refuse to use air travel, more greenhouse gases produced at higher altitudes (worse than driving)

Been in min till and then zero till for over 20 years so lots of carbon stored.

            What are you doing?

Frozen ground doesn't sequester any CO2

Totally correct Silverback. Unless the developing countries (China/India) get involved a country like Canada can do very little. 30 million people is nothing. I was in Morocco a couple weeks ago. They have 30 million people in a country smaller then Saskatchewan. Mexico, 100 million people, bulk of them make $5 a day. Think they will jump on the carbon tax bandwagon. Don't think so.

What if the global warmers are wrong (and calling it climate change instead of Global warming is plain stupid as they are just trying to say if today's weather is not normal (and to think that an individual with such a short life span can understand what constitues normal weather patterns of mother earth, is plain stupid), you need to fork over money to fund this beast)and we reduce CO2 levels and it gets colder then it should be. What then? If we warm a few degrees, Canada would be similar in climate to South Dakota, those guys seem to do ok, I would like 200 bu/ac corn. This issue, as stated above, will die with the animal rights era, recycle-reuse era, GMO activists (almost dead), seal hunter activist, chemical use activists, whale watchers, and on and on. THe whole thing is a continual shift of the same people running NGO's funded with pictures of cuddly polar bears (which can swim 100s of miles, but that never comes up) on the edge of an iceberg with money from Yuppies in the cities that feel guility about their plush lifestyle. Everyone of these issues have made Dr. Suzuki money. Everyone of them. Enjoy the global warming/Climate change time because you will have to shift to the next fear created by these same people. Fear keeps these people with plush jobs.

The arguement is not that the poor people are not doing anything so why should we, the arguement is there is new information all the time about this issue and the global warming crew will not look at it, they stick their heads in the sand and want a carbon tax so they feel good. Charge me a carbon tax and see if it changes my day to day activities. It will not. Redistribution is all we are talking about.

After additional thought, i was wrong in saying that the arguement is not that poor countries are not doing it, so why should we. The arguement is that if global warming was real, until you get these larger populations to agree to reductions as well, you are not going to affect change with a small population like Canada. I understand California as a state has banned lighter fluid for BBQs. Wow, that will really influence the atmosphere. Politicians are doing things to appease the yuppies in the city. This is nuts. More and more people are questioning this and it will only be time until it is toast.
