Varies zero to 50% in the Rose Valley area, maybe 25% average due to wet fields. Soil temps maxed on two days at 12C. Otherwise as low as zero on the 8th and back there today. Way too cold, so nothing emerged. Half inch with hail stopped everyone on the 12th. Now also too wet, with more snow today. Snow forecast for Tuesday also.

0 % for me personally, most guys got a quarter section in on Monday which for many was the first kick at the can.
We are in our own little world up here. Widespread hail (a few inches of it in areas), over an inch of rain, and now several inches of snow. I am amazed how out to lunch we are in this country. On Tuesday it was 22 or some such in Saskatoon, we were like -3. Many guys getting very nervous. Any thing germinated will probably be toast. the ground was froze up hard this morning, and the few guys who had seeded earlier in the month, are quite worried. Me, I have been cleaning seed, and finally finished today. Has been a most snotty winter/spring to be in that business.
At any rate, nothing is growing in the fields, the grass is quite brown, and we are soaking fricking wet. AGAIN. If the forcast holds, we'd be screwed in our little pocket of the world. AGAIN. Unseeded 2006, unseeded 2007. Not many can afford another no-seed year. Might be some cheap machinery/land in our region if we don't get this one in.
Praying for some global warming...

Got to 45% yesterday first shut down with one rig down south. Snow from across the valley. Then Shut down East of the yard afternoon. Next week weather looks the craps again. Will have hired man starting at 4:30 with rig one. Spraying is out of the question, since wont quit freezing at night till sat or sun. Then freeze on Tues night. This is starting to look really crappy.

The weather has cooperated so far in this area, but even if it hadn't would not have gotten too excited. Plan to split the durum acreage by putting the other half in after May 25 which will mean a week of down time. 50% done with 13 quarters of durum in, 6 of flax, and 2 of peas. Two SeedHawks just humming along!!!

Most farmers are done in our area of SW Sask. Some big farmers have been done for been done for a week or more and most will finish up this week here. Some are just starting as they were waiting for rain. We had some showers in small areas up to 3/4 of a inch in places and nothing a mile away just wind. On the average I think we had less than 1/10 inch of rain since April 1.
We finished up seeding our Durum last night and last year we did not start seeding durum until May 14. We just have some canary seed to go in and should be done in a couple of days.
If it rains we will seed more Durum on some lentil stubble if it does not rain we will chemfollow it.
We might be done combining as well if it does not rain here soon.
We have peas and lentils in the ground for over 3 weeks and they are not out of the ground yet.

The peas were seeded April 21 they are just laying there not germinated yet. Do not know if it is to dry to cold. The caragana trees are just starting to bud now. I do not think there is any damage yet but if it does not rain they are not going to come up.
Was looking at the monthly historical weather charts and it is looking a lot like 2002.
