    Potash and Wheat

    Dear Charlie,

I asked at our local fert dealer and they said no local farmers are using potash this spring.

Amazing think... how inelastic markets... turn elastic; and go to zero when the buyer thinks they are being ripped off by a monopoly!

The best market in the world Potash. Gone. After years. $1000/t did it!

It burns me that the CWB does exactly the same thing when selling my wheat... then has to discount it twice as hard to get the sales back.

WHAT a stupid way to shoot yourself in the head!

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong

Potash is pottasium or the k part of npk

Western canadanian farmers don't use k we use p or phosphate

We are a lucky bunch for not having to worry about k

Soils in Western Canada, DA for T4, are generally high in K. Lighter sandy soils and specialty crops may use some K. Use is usually very discretionary. Use is mandatory in some parts of the U.S.

Apparently there are places in the world that need to apply the k , like us not using n, we would have no crop.
I agree with you Tom, the monopoly is going to screw itself in the end. Can you imagine Tom what their conversations are like with China and India at the moment? Our potash industry is going to crash eventually when 15 new mines get built in Russia.

Ultimately greed kills itself eventualy, look back at history. POT reminds me of Rome, once powerfull but killed itself - the house market(a touch more recent but completly relivent) in the U.S. and in Albeta. Real Estate agents are about to hang themselves. U.S. banking system, the list is long and currently POT is trying like heck to top this list. JMO
High prices fix themselves just look at hrsw.
