Just wondering, most in Alberta will have their canola seeded by now, how is the cold over night temps affecting the crop. Here none is up yet so were fine yet. Also Manitoba how is it doing in your neck of the woods.

I would say most of the canola is in in Alberta, at least south of Calgary anyways. Most of my canola and mustard is out of the ground. We had freezing temp 2 nights ago. Got to -3 to -3.5 but I think only for 2 hrs at most. Not sure how long it takes to see if there is damage but I think everything is ok. The only other frost was about a week ago and in some places by Lethbridge north and south it got as low as -6. Losts of pulses out and some early canola but have not heard yet of any damage.

Loosing some canola this early may not effect you to much. canola has the great ability to make up for early season loss of plants. you will have less canola sucking up the nutrients so there may be more for whats left. It may look thinner but i would suspect yield won't be as low as you think. " hopefully"
