Forecast is for -5 Sunday night here-SW AB. Would be 3rd frost on canola! Other 2 frosts not over whole fields but can definitely find damage from hurt plants to total burn off to nothing at all. Snow maybe would be good if it gets that cold for the canola but what would happen to the Fall Wheat?

Minus 3 here at 5am. Canola all still looks good yet but coming up very slow, was perhaps a good year to blow the engine. My canola mostly is just about to break the surface, Still doing post planting burnoff.

We had .25 in of sleet last night in a thunderstorm. forecast for 1 C tonight. Canola in first true leaf, but growing very slowly. The winter wheat should be allright . Canola will become cold tolerant if subject to light frosts and cool temp. Worse if you get high temp and then a frost.

We are at 39 F at 11:30 pm. Calling for 28 F Tonight. The CWB weatherbug sites tell quite a tale of different temps, even 5 miles apart.

Ok in the one hour since my last post it is now .25 above. neighbour had plus 3 when I had minus 3 last night.
