What the hell is going on Frost in Saskatoon on the roofs again, We had rain in east Sask and no frost but cool from Alberta to Manitoba. This crop is now set back 10 to 14 days yet the markets have done nothing. Yea yea the dollar is up so is every other currency compared to the US dollar so their goes that theory.
Or is it the same BS as 2002 and 2004. We have to wait and see the farmer is always wrong the market is always right Bull shit. Well their is lots of plants that are gone, and dying every day. Lots of rain did not hit the hardest drought areas of Sask and Alberta. Manitoba is swimming. Hell couldn't drive out to see a header the other day because the guys yard was way to wet.
SO they are hopping all us stupid framers deliver into the system now at lower price so they can sell at huge price. Their for we need major marketing reports produced by some agency comparative to USDA that would come out with real crop inspections from one end of Canada to other. Not the BS we have now.

Their are farmers out their who say we had no damage even if it froze for five days strait. These are the same guys who in 2002 and 2004 had no crop damage to their HRS or Canola yet every one else's yields were way down and poor grade. But the News seems to find these people for expert crop reporting. No the canola crop isn't wiped out but take a few bushels off the plate, quite a few.

Did the experts not tell us how much canola was being sucked out of the system and crushed or exported just a little while back?

There is no way their carryover numbers are going to save them after this spring.

What was canola worth last spring again?

Our crop is ok sofar but it is along way till harvest. We are way behind and I am more concerned about fall frost and a late harvest.

After seeing my neighbour's barley field perhaps we should be wondering about Barley more than Canola. Well just had to make sure it wasn't spray damage.

we don't have a crop that hasn't been hurt. Wheat, barley lost leaves, canola looks like hell and is a waiting game. The top has been taken off for sure, and this weather is crazy, and the calender marches on. N.E Sask

Today I crop inspected all our crops every single field.
Results
Canola first 500 Acres seeded Looks like hell, plant count is poor but their is a growing point on the dead plants. The 1/2 inch should help we need heat.
Peas stunted bad short looking like 2 inch trees trying to branch out.
Barley one field nice one has burnt leaves and the plants are trying to stool out because main growing point is hurt.
Wheat looks good but looks sickly wrong color.
Durum just sitting at one stage and funny color.
Oats just coming up thick and nice shape.
Flax on neighbors looks good on thick stubble makes me wounder why. When we use to seed it on dark smf always froze.

Yield will not be even close to last year on most crops except the wheat and Durum has potential to do good, other crops no.
When checking the canola felt like a hooker never been on my knees that much. But still feel like the crops screwed.

We are in a similar boat first 500 of canola took a shit kicking next 500 is iffy and the rest is fine (seeded into burnt black ground)

wheat is yellow in the low spots from frost so is barley, not sure if that will effect the yield. BIG worry is an early fall frost we need good growing conditions for the rest of the summer.

acres, don;t know which crops. not done seeding
myself yet, had damage on early flax, waiting to see
how much. lots of neighbours reseeding just before
1.1 inches on wkend.
my canola checkoff doesn't seem to buy much support

It's not only the grain companies guilty of this.

You forgot to mention that Cherilyn Jolly-Nagel and her Western Canadian Wheat Growers Ass. followers also want you to flood the system with durum deliveries and pressure prices down even further.

It seems they don't realize most of the durum acres in SK and AB are drying up, and normal yield prospects could be well below normal this year.

The durum markets could be interesting next year.
