What is happening with feed grain (including feed pea) prices in your area?
The reason I ask is that in times like the current when supplies are under stress there is a large range between the bid and offer side. Price survey tend to reflect the bid (buyers are the ones who are phoned).
What are buyers bidding for feed wheat, barley, oats and peas?
What would farmers in your area be willing to sell these products for (offer side)?
What are actual transacted prices (real business)? How far out is pricing going?
One piece of advice I will hand out is that US corn imports are not likely to supplement a domestic feed grain shortage in the coming year. The price of imported corn (S. Alta.) is likely about 75 cents/bu over CBT corn futures converted to Canadian dollars track. September futures $4.50 ish/bu. 75 cent basis puts at $5.25/bu or about USD $210/tonne or Cdn $230/tonne. Trucking to feedlot $10/tonne. Landed US corn about $240/tonne.
