Just a note to put everyone on alert on a feed barley sales (particularly if you have fall cash flow needs that aren't covered). The futures market has rallied nicely and should be rewarded with a sale. A couple of notes.
1) Shop the market for good basis/higher cash. Prices/basis quotes are all over the map. Going direct to feeder/feedmill is normally the best but requires a little more work initially.
2) Location is a big issue. If you live in southern Alberta close to a feedlot and have bins with easy winter access (can get to them with some snow ploughing in - 40 degree temperatures), then being patient is likely a good policy. I you are in central Saskatchewan/Alberta with no local livestock market close by, moving product while the weather is a good makes sense (particularly if some of your bins have tough winter access). Again, this has to tie in with your cashflow needs/market plan.
3) The CWB has the Early payment option on feed barley again. The PRO is competitive but??? Thoughts on considerations in signing up?
