Well the phones will be hot this afternoon as again the protected territory (shhhh it doesn't exist BS). Dammit as a farmer I should be able to buy from who ever I choose best price and yes service should be figured in but 60000 plus come on. This monopoly BS doesn't work for any of us except the damb dealers. Well I live in area we bought from and the two local guys can kiss it. Now on tractor deal it might be a competetor since that seems to be the only way to get a deal. Also on small stuff most deals are cash no trade so why not direct purchse, hell what does the middle man really do the answer is nothing. So its still the farmer that pays for the equipment and the companies need to here that were not happy with protected territory.

I don't understand this protected territory you talk of. You say you bought from the local guy but some other dealer has protected territory in your area? And if one dealer has a better trade in value than another what is stopping you from buying from the better trade in dealer?

Hopper it seems most companies have protected territories on new. So if you go to a dealer you only use once in a while and get a price the dealer will give you one but he is suppose to only quote you from his full retail sheet. This is so your main dealer is always their for service etc. But as a farmer should you be forced to take what he gives you for your trade or should you be able to shop around and get the best deal. Because with protected areas their is no dealing its full retail. Family owned a Dealership (green) back quite a few years ago and I almost became a Blue dealer back in 1986 after UofS yes I know Blue on our farm. With the green guys I know its that way and it seems the other companies are doing the same.
I live in the city so technically all in the city should be OK, funny the green guy says no. On new he cant get real serious used anything goes.
This is real your at the mercy of your local Dealers. Is that fair.

All dealers sent us the sheets with breakdown of costs for drill. all identical Drills and tanks to our specification. All with in pennies local lowest of them, then the Last Quote came in 60,000 cheaper. (Their giving me more for my trade). Oups the local guy re-quotes some $39,000. lower but he is still $21,000 high would you buy from him for service etc its a air-drill not a combine or tractor. On our farm the answer is no. So what i am saying is were not in a free market on new, it a protected territory for dealers, either way farmers loose.

Thanks for enlightening me, I see how these dealers can take over other dealers now and become so big with this scheme.
At 80 dollars per hour I have not had anyone deny me service yet so your local dealer really legally I don't think they can deny you service. You can still buy a GM car anywhere and get local service.
They will still make a killing on your replacement parts also if you keep the dam thing longer than a few years. There is no way I would have taken that initial quote that you got it was totally outrageous.
