SW Manitoba crops

We went to Altona Manitoba to pick up a header on
the weekend and I have never seen such nice crops
in my life before as I seen from Carman to Altona.
The crops looked late but It looked like we could
walk on top of them they were so thick. There is
sure some nice farm yards we seen on the drive as
well. They look like they should be on post cards.

As we left home and went east the crops kept
getting better. There was a few areas where the
crops did not look as good between home and
Altona but most of the crops looked pretty good.

Have any agrivillers looked at crops from a low flying plane rather than 70 MPH drive bys?

Did on June 27th in the Leduc region. Most fields you could see the ground, sparse rows... looked fairly pathetic from that level. Many sloughs dried up. Have improved greatly from that time, although the hot, dry has used up the bit of rain we did recieve.
A few of the lakes could sell another row of "beach front property."

Don't know about a low flying plane, but some crops that look good from a half ton truck, look crappy from the seat of a higher up semi. Even some of the super farmers in the area who have 300 bucks an acre in inputs are going to be in for a suprise.

They look pretty thin around home when I fly but I
have only been flying a 25 mile radius around our
farm.

Have been spraying some lentils for grasshoppers with
a high clearance and you can really get a good look
doing that and most lentils around here do not look
to good but there is some very nice lentils about 25
miles south of here.

Went on a few road trips from Leader Sask to Maple
Creek and down to Great Falls Mt. Crops looked
pretty good south of Leader and not bad all the
way to Great Falls. Came back through Lethbridge
to Med hat back to Leader and the crops did not
look all that bad. I think the worst crops on that
trip were right at home north of highway 32. Same
as going East the worst crops were right at home
the further south east I went the better the crops
got.

Any body here from South West Manitoba? What do
you think of your crops there?

My dad was up at Pigion Lake by Edmonton and he
said most of the crops did not look very good all
the way there and back. There was a few spots
that looked ok but overall there was lots that would
not be harvested.

I have not been very far north of the south sask
river in the last 3 months so I have not seen any of
the crops in that area.

In my area 100 miles east of yorkton we have good crops,poor crops,v late crops and summerfallow. Mine are all looking excellent. An early frost would be very heartbreaking to me. Canola looks bumper, but 1-2 weeks for bloomming yet. Seen some that will just start to bloom in the next week.

100 miles NW of Yorkton crops are close to last year's but 10 days later. Midge sprayer said Wheat is better than last year. Canola is past full bloom. Missing showers since July 12, so it's getting dry. New potatoes in the garden have no moist dirt on them.
