2001-02 Pool Return Outlook (PRO)

CWB announces mid-month change to feed barley PRO

Winnipeg -- The Canadian Wheat Board (CWB) today increased
the 2001-02 feed barley Pool Return Outlook (PRO) by $10 to
$175 per tonne. Since the August PRO, tight stocks of North
American barley, combined with a somewhat smaller U.S. corn
crop have increased pressure on feed grain supply. The CWB
will continue to focus feed barley marketing efforts on our
premium customers.

The CWB is committed to providing farmers with up-to-date
information on market conditions for the eligible classes and
grades of wheat and barley. This is the second time since
the pricing options were announced that market conditions
have changed enough during the month to warrant issuing a
revised PRO.

This is for over 50 lb/bu barley, with tight quality restrictions.

It is interesting what the threat of competition does to the CWB, isn't it?
