Does anyone else have the problem with unwanted advertising. A while ago my computer connection got so slow I was not able to use it. I took it to a shop and they found a virus in the programme, which they removed and it work very well after that. I have since installed Norton Antivirus which maybe helps with the problem of the Virus, but it slows the overall operation of the computer. It scans the mail and continues to ask if I want to enable cookies. I have also tried to install Adaware. I don't mind enabling cookies except that this unsolicited advertising for Casinos and Porn come on the screen at the same time, and I don't know if I am acknowledging cookies for the unwanted site or the one that I had entered. I need to enable cookies to do on line banking, but quite often this unwanted advertising come on the screen at the same time I am trying to enter my bank account. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so what is the solution?

There are quite a number of 'pop-up' eliminators available. I use 'POW' which can be downloaded from www.analogx.com. If you load this program prior to web access you can just click the icon in the system tray and add or delete the annoying pop-ups. If it is running the next time you are on the web it will automatically pow the pop-up. Just follow the readme instructions.
Hope this helps.
There are also settings in IE Explorer which can be changed but to get into it here would be somewhat problematic.
Regarding cookies...for the most part they are harmless. It doesn't hurt to delete them through IE Explorer once in a while and start fresh but you will have to re-log in to sites that require a log-in until a new cookie is written.
I am NO expert but have learned a lot of things by reading the 'HELP' screens and a lot of trial and error...sometimes a lot of the latter.
