I am looking for advice or recommendations of software or sites that facilitate a group of people working together ie a shared calendar to allow for schedules, a threaded discussion room (like this one), shared files (with read only and edit permission control), passwords to certain areas perhaps etc. etc. I am experimenting with Visto.com now and eRoom.com and would appreciate feedback on these 2 sites as well. Thanks Mike

I am most familiar with Lotus Notes. Notes will do what you seem to needing. I checked out eRoom, it seems like it does much the same kind of things as well. My impression is that eRoom is more online intensive where Notes users would only be online during replication, otherwise all information would be stored on the users individual computer. eRoom had a nice feature, it notifies participants by email of changes in a file or database which would be useful if the room was seldom used. The success of this form of communication depends a lot on the participants and how dedicated they are to making it work.
