He has at least been arrested for suspicion of manslaughter.
Has anyone ever been charged with assault for fighting or hitting during a game?
What about attempted man slaughter for other slash accidents on necks, or even wrists and legs? This isn’t the first skate cutting event, were the others charged.

Now if those deaths occurred due the negligence, recklessness, or with intent, then yes charge them and investigate.
I don't need to tell you there are inherent risks in any sport... a karate kick with a skate to the throat shouldn't be one of them.

A chop from the skate to anywhere not protected is a risk in the sport. That’s why it’s happened multiple times before.
My dad had his throat cut while playing hockey. Perhaps he should’ve charged the player with assault or even attempted murder.
Manslaughter seems like a bogus charge in a sporting event known for its contact, risk, and severe injuries. Prove intent and prove murder, or leave it alone.Last edited by Blaithin; Nov 15, 2023, 11:26.

Saw that vid... its a tough one to diagnose for sure. You can see he clips the defenceman and looks to lose his balance.
however, hes leaning forward and usually when falling forward to move onto your front ( lead) foot... he actually leans onto his backfoot and lifts his lead foot up which catches the guy.
Honestly its a bit of a grainy vid ( the one i saw) and it would be incredibly difficult to charge the guy with something. Its a contact sport and accidents happen...but this one. WHEW.
no clue what really to comment or decide on this one.
