The total planted acreage to rye in Western Canada is likely to be down this year compared to last. A shortage of seed was attributed for the lack of year-over-year growth. According to Winter Cereals Canada, approximately the same amount of fall rye was seeded this year, amounting to about 320,000 acres. The crop is seen as being off to a good start, and should soon start entering dormancy
