According to Prairie Ag Hotwire, the passing of the Marketing Freedom Act will cause Western Canadian farmers to plant more acres to wheat and barley next year. They are attributing the rally in deferred canola futures contracts late last week to this, saying that prices must rise in order to prevent producers from switching to wheat and barley in the spring.
Do you think that the end of the CWB means that farmers will plant more wheat and barley now that they have access to the open market?? Or is this completely unrelated?
