According to World Weather Inc., producers in the Canadian Prairies can expect a drier than normal start to the spring growing season this year. Less than normal precipitation this winter has already left soil conditions on the drier side and above average temperatures across Western Canada are compounding the problem. Manitoba and southeastern Saskatchewan are expected to be the driest areas as colder than normal conditions and lower than normal amounts of precipitation are expected to be the theme in the second half of winter 2012.
