Talked to a guy today about seeding soybeans.
Seed(200, 000plants/ac, 140, 000 seed unit. He
said traditional areas seed lighter, 120, 000plants/
ac. because they dont have to try to speed up
maturity by seeding heavier), treated and
innoculated and granular to put with seed costs
about $110/acre(probably a bit negotiable). Said
yields about 27 to 33 bu/ac. Asked about bin
buster yields and he said it happens in some areas,
I'm assuming in longer season areas where they
have a better chance of finishing without frost
stealing the top end of yield.. What do you expect
for a fall price? Rep said U.S. pricing would be
stronger than limited and distant domestic market.
Who is going to take a stab at these things. I was
thinking about trying a quarter.
