canola green feed

does anyone have any thoughts. we are looking at 140 acres that we are not sure what to do with.

There has been a lot of Canola green feed put up in my area. Most guys are buying it at 3 cents a pound standing and doing all the work to put it up. That price is now a little high with all the barley being written off finally. Use a big haybine to cut it. The stalks are just too juicy to swath and let sit, hoping to dry down this late in the year. Soft core balers will let you get it up without fear of spoilage if there is some tough spots in the field. Make sure to send samples away to get checked for nitrogen poisoning, some guys are finding it a little high for comfort. Do you have a tub grinder to mix hay in with the canola?
