    Wheat midge

Didn't see any midge yet last night.
Anyone else seeing any or enough for spraying?

Good thing guys mention it so the elevators don't forget to put it on their checklists for downgrading.

And since the chemical companies can't convince farmers of a fungicide app maybe they can apply insecticide.

And while your at it throw in a fungicide. Lol.

Utmost tolerant wheat killing the midge, f*ck 'em. One good rain probably hatched the bastards.

I think its too dry here for the midge to go from pupal to adult stage. And what would I be protecting anyway? Can you imagone what the wheat sample is going to look like without rain?

Frost heat stress smudge fuzz midge

Can you add any more to get the grade to feed.

Although that might end too. They might have to start calling it a number 1 to reduce the price from where feed wheat might be.

What is the best insecticide for midge?

                  Lorsban?

We've always sprayed Lorsban and it's worked well.
Believe me I don't want to have to spray anything or spend more $ on poor looking crop. But in our experience some years the yield loss is far worse than the down grading from midge.

None here, but then the wheat has no heads yet...
