    the drought aint over yet

I was taking soil samples last week and realized I was driving where I am usually lucky to be walking in my fields, most of the snow evaporated or ran off and the soil is way worse than last spring. what crop we grew last year was on subsoil moisture which we dont have this year. I am pretty nervous with N at .40/lb and no rain. Oh well I guess we have been bred to be optomists and slow learners. The soil map said we are recharging but I think they are real optomists. I am just north of red deer, where is the moisture this year?

Yes, it looked pretty dry and dusty west of Rimbey a week ago too. What a difference a week makes.Thunder shower on Thursday afternoon brought 3 inches of water in just over 3 hours, another 4/10ths inch overnight.Saturday has brought another 9/10ths inch. The land has soaked it up really well with little run off so it must have been pretty dry! Lets hope the drought is gone.
