Local JRI , 4 miles away
          About 34 this year , 28 last year .
This year on our most frost prone field, which did get hit with frost on about 30 AC at the begining of Sept .
Had 80 AC , about 40 AC did 42 the other 40 AC Ave about 24 . One later vartiey did 18 on the last 10 AC .
          Not great but getting there
No disease , no bugs , no weather grading , no worries if left in snow
Potential for this part of the country with earlier varieties coming soon .
Very easy to combine , with very little load on shoe at all , less than peas .
          Less than 1 % dockage .
Moisture was 12.5 last year and 13.5 this year.
The only reason we could not move them last year , we did not have enough for a rail car . But Rayglen would have bought if we had enough for a supper B .
Seed cost more than canola but 1/3 the fert .
Time will tell how we can grow and manage them with Mother Nature , but anouther step foreward to alternatives IMO

Lots grown around here. Half the cost of canola and slightly less yield. Price per bushel is better. Slightly more risk of late harvest dates. Overall worth it to grow some.

For us here , less risk than lentils or even late maturity wheats .
Also the broad range of herbicides is a good fit

I find that they are within three years of taking Canola Acres out of Eastern Sask. Canola priced it self out of the market and Soy is going to make in roads. New varieties coming will help out.
