    manure on snow

i didnt get all my manure spread and i have 4000 tons stockpiled (feedlot manure approx 35% moisture). if i spread it on the snow what kind of N loss am i looking at? will the available N be absorbed by the moisture and into the soil or just evaporate? i am new to manure and dont want to waste my money. thanks

2 possible losses ... the first is volatilization where the N may be lost as NH3 (ammonia) into the air ... losses this time of year will be limited somewhat by low temperatures ...

The second loss comes from potential runoff especially if it's applied to frozen ground ....

Incorporating it after application is ideal
