    IMC208RR

Does anyone have any experience with this canola variety? If I can get 35-40 bushels with a DeKalb or Proven open pollinated variety, what can I expect with this? Just snooping around and making next years plans, thanks for any replies.

That variety averaged 73% of the check variety 46A65 in the Prairie Canola Variety Trials in 2003. So there is a yield deficit that must be made up with the price premium.

      Thanks for the update!

73%? Ouch - that's worse than I thought. Do you know if those particular yield trials measure the variety with 2 shots of roundup or are all varieties treated the same?

The Prairie Canola Variety Trials compared all varieties under conventional herbicide management and thus compare only the genetic potential of varieties and not the weed control benefits of various systems.
In the registration procedure, IMC208RR yielded about 93% of Q2, which should be similar to 46A65.
I suggest taking a mid-point between the 2 numbers, about 83% as an estimate of the yield potential. As always, consider as much data as you can find.

The IMC varieties are not good at getting out of the ground! Seed at 8 lbs an acre and seed about a week later than normal for an argentine variety. They do not like cool soil. good luck! Hope the premium covers off the grief.
