I was wondering what the best crop to grow on manured ground would be? I tried HRS last year, looked awesome all year and didn't yield near what it looked like it should. For once moisture wasn't the limiting factor and I sprayed for midge. This has happened a couple of times now and I can't seem to get these fields to yield. What are other producers doing?

One option which has worked well is semi dwarf 2 row barley. CDC Thompson is a variety which has produced up to 150 bushels of plump, heavy barley on well manured land near Innisfail where rainfall is usually not a limiting factor. Sturdy, stands like a soldier, and the grain is ideal for what the best feedlots are looking for.
