One more thing Pulseman the guys who are investing in this project, that is their gamble. I don't feel responsible for those idiots investing in something that is completly useless.

What is really fascinating is how ignorant you are. Even if we put aside the environmental and social aspects of the terminator gene, you have to look at it's impact on the markets.
Many countries that purchase our wheat do not want a GM product. The people we sell to do not want it! Are we as farmers that ignorant to ignore our customer's demands?
But some short-sighted farmer has decided that GM wheat is a good agronomic fit on his farm and ignore the consequences. Open your eyes!

Dear Lakenheath,
I write in many forums from around the world and the first time I have been refered to as ignorant or insulted has been on this site, in fact you and your insulting comments would be removed from most forums. If you cannot control your comments maybe you should leave this forum until you inform yourself of the benefits of GM and biotec.

Dear Ghan,
I am sorry you are so sensitive. Ignoring facts is being ignorant. I believe you and pulseman were ignoring some important facts.
I don't see that as any worse from your first post stating that Pulseman's post was the only sensible post. Unsensible and ignorant are not that far off.
I have been posting on this site for a long time and sometimes get into some healthy heated debates. I do not curse or insult. I debate. If you can't handle that then don't read what I post.

Another thing Ganh. It would be nice if you were informed before you posted comments. We are debating the terminator gene, not biotech in general. If you would have read closely I am not against biotech research. I merely said we should challenge any science that threatens farmers.
I don't see you lectureing Pulseman on hurling commments like calling us socialists, whiners, smart smart farmers, etc. Oh, wait, he is on your side of the debate so I guess that is o.k.
News flash to Ganh. GM and biotech crop are not the solution to world hunger or improving the agriculutral situation in Canada. We are lead to believe they are, but if you did some digging and research you would quickly find that maybe they aren't all they are cracked up to be. But, like you, I am getting off the debate topic (which is the incredible socio-agriculturally destructive terminator gene).

maybe we should stop to consider that the goal is to produce food. biotech opens up amazing possibilities but so far many of the advances in technology have only served to reduce food production in the hungriest parts of the world. the large seed companies want to control the production of food. it is certainly debatable whether or not this is effective in feeding people or promoting healthy landscapes. the producers who defend the interests of the large seed companies should stop to consider whether or not the biotech has been of economic benefit to the farmer. our communities continue to dwindle and our debt continues to increase as we chase the technology. i think it's time we looked at the larger picture.

I don't know as much as I should about the science behind the "terminator" gene, but I know one thing absolutely sure, is that governments and the multinationals behind the scientific progress made in other areas of growing crops fooled most of us into believing that we need to grow more crop to feed the growing demand from the growing population. Well over all we are producing more, there is a growing population, people are starving by what I see as much as ever, but yet we are told there is no price for our product because no one needs it. Tell me who has benefited the most from the advances made allowing us to produce more crop? It sure hasn't been the farmer, or the people that are starving and I think we need to stop allowing these companies to tell us what we need or don't need. Anything at all that gives these companies control or potentially more control should not be supported. They have screwed us over enough as it is and are making billions upon billions off of us I think that is enough.

Lakenhead & Co., you have only read my comments where it fit your trail. Interesting the quick assesment of my nature, but this goes rigth back to you. I, luckely, only look into the agriville topic's very seldome and the more I see what you and your well informed friends write, the more I know why.
Not respecting proprietory rigths on seed is the same as stealing, particularly if the variety was created with privat funds. One important reason why breeders from Europe have reduced releases of varieties to Canada. Why to give rigths to varieties if the royalties can not be collected. This is also the reason why royalties are at high levels, becasue of all the socialistice free riders.
Nobody is forced to grow the new varieties, and all one needs to do for keeping old type of varieties without any royalties and/or determer gens, is, to keep some seed in good condition and you can re-multiply this. This demands knowledge of seed production and the hard work around it.
Good luck.
