Agricore told me today they couldnt get drivers for their NH3 trucks. Everybody wants 35$/hour or they will stay in the patch. Pushing granular instead.

We've been offered quotes of $700-$720/tonne here in Southern Alberta.

Steve....ever considered crossing the line south??I was asking down there and they quoted 440US/dollar/ton.That`s quite a bit different than here!!Was actually a point on the high line.

Some thing is funny this year.
          1. by this time every year we have a anhydrous price and are worried about seeding.
          2. We have a chemical price on burn off etc.
          3. All rentals arrangements are in place.
This year it seems every one is waiting to see if the feds will come up with money to gouge us again.
          Really weird.

we are getting ready to put some nh3 in the ground...was expecting about $740 delivered to my tank...now they are saying 790 to 800...does not make sense with gas under $6....the us quote of 440 - assume Montana? with currency exchange and trucking to the north would put us at susbstantially less.....they will have to pay more get trucks and men off oilfield work, but that was already the case last year..plus it is break up season...that US $440 is that sourced by Agrium?

Sorry northfarmer don`t know source.Talked to Larry at Greyn`s(search Greyn`s fertilizer@Choteau).He tells me they HAVE to take the stuff across the line.Sounds like its part of the sales deal.Still with all the distance in...have to do more digging....bullet to bullet prices are different than to a pup.

spoke to Geyn's in Montana....did not want to talk about nh3 prices across the border....said he could not make the trucking work, but did say we could get Urea, picked up FOB their plant for $386 tonne CDN dollar....makes sense that their local nh3 price would be substantially better than what we are seeing on our side of the border.....seems to me the distribution up here is caught with a bunch of high priced inventory and want to make us pay for their hedge mistake...we need to push back, but hard to negotiate with an oligopoly/monopoly!!

SWP stopped by today with their spring price delivered to our tank 667.48

                    guaranteed tonnage.

I also agree that our northern boys screwed up and sold in-fall or purchased in fall for them selves high priced product and now there trying to pass on their screw up to the farmers.
Tell the company's to p off and come back with a better price.
one other thing start telling other farmers that the price is .35 cents a lb that your getting and soon the phones will be ringing to head quarters and they will do something.
                    We can only try!
