My "Harvest" spring wheat is quite ripe and dry and I notice there are between 3-12 kernals per sq foot on the ground from shelling out. The crop is about a 50-60 bushel yielder.
There was a terrific wind that came through and mangled a lot of canola windrows and my wheat was ripe at the time. In looking at my cps wheat and my neighbors wheat I do not notice the degree of shelling, but am not sure if they were as ripe when the strong wind came.
Not sure if the loss is normal, then I don't want to grow any more for straight cutting.
Curious if anyone else has looking at the ground in their harvest wheat before threshing?
