And here is another bit of info. This fall we all heard about the possible shortage of 46-0-0.Dealers got the same info possibly more and were told to start stocking up. Here is what unfolded in my area. Some retailers looked up last years tonnage they sold and order as much as they could to equal that numnber.They stored were they could and got there customers to buy then and take delivery ASAP. This dealer has enough 46 for there customers and everyone who bought got 46 for under the 400 mark. The next dealer was trying so hard to get new customers he shoved the price of 46 out the door at a price that retails couldn't even buy it for.Then when they were told no more 46 to be sold and the price was going up 20-30 bucks a week they had to tell some guys who already paid for there 46 they couldn't get it or they price was now higher becuase they finally realized that there loyal customers were now in danger of not getting 46. The next dealer did not buy anything when told to and when he finally realized what happed he paid through the nose and now they do not no if they can even get enough 46 for their customers. the last dealer still has a belief that 46 price will drop and the shortage is all a big marketing skeem to get people to buy and he has not pre ordered anything and now he knows that there is not a tonne for sale anywhere and he begins if search by calling dealers to try and find any extra 46.

So now if any one thinks that if they use less N it will hurt any retails or the big guys think again it will just free up some tonnes to sell to the the guy in need.

And yes i'm having a bad day !!! LOL

he is simple facts read the post its about the difference between US price for nitrogen and Canadian, Yes their is a shortage of 46-0-0 but every farmer thought of that but if you use gas as the thread implies you cant get much prebuy and take product home.
and on the rest of your gibberish most farmers are doing exactly what your saying GPS trial etc.

Actually all of our customers who use juice have already bought the Nh3 and almost every tonne of everything we have ordered has been prebought. And as far as that other gibberish it's not . Go and work by the hour saskfarmer and see the gov take a ¼ of your pay. I deal with farmers everyday and i actually have to say that 90% of my customers say that there life is pretty good oh it could be better but whos couldn't be. And actaully Saskfarmer Northamerica farmers have been paying less for all types of N for years that is fact and that is part of the reason we are in the spot we are. Why would Egypt ect sell North America fert when they can sell to say china and they will pay more. And since china has opened it doors to import more N that has happened. And to be honest the NH3 is only 5-7 cents cheaper then 46 and for my money and my customers money NH3 is not the best N source. And we will be getting rid of our tank finally in the next 2-3 years.

Every year the sky is falling, the sky is falling, somewhere in agriculture. No there will be enough fertilizer to go around, don't have a panic attack. As I said before, a big crop, will go in the ground. Everyone is excited this year, grain prices are good. Fertilizer companies are poised to take advantage of us AGAIN. Lots of summer fallow on our farm, assures us of a good crop. with the use of a little N, its like money in the bank. Some crop insurance and relax, go fishing. Guess I have some smarts after all!!!! Use it or lose it, N that is big guys, after all you produce 80% of the crop. You can get rich this year, maybe. By the way, natural gas is cheap this year, soooooo why is anhydrous so expensive? Its the Americans, they always screw things up for us little Canadian cousins. But have no fear, we'll get even with them, ripping our oil resources out of the ground and selling it to America at inflated prices. After all, apparently we have to or so says THE NAFTA agreement. My only question is, did we get slickered again? Did Bulroney sell us out at the trade talks?

All i have to say about the shortage of N from working in a retail. There were times the plant actually closed down and we could not get out shipments because there were out of N, trucks were turned away and we had to wait and every pound of N was paid in full by us.There was a shortage this fall and we had a real tuff time getting all we needed and that is the honest truth. I just hope everything turns around but our cost today is over $500 and still going up.

I just hope that in the coffe shop here under crop production we can all stop jumping on the complain trian about things that happen every year and will always happen. There are people that wait until the fuel price gets high then goes and gets everyone going one it just to get sit back and get the thirll of watching what he started. There are issues that happen every year i'm tired of hearing about them year after year. If everything is so bad sell off and move to town. I love to help farmers do there job and enjoy seeing things work out for them. So lets start talking about crop production and maybe if you have done field trials and tried new ideas and products share them with us so we can all do better and make some money. Stop beating a dead horse, or at least complain about something new.

Darren, how many of your customers are aware of "alpine" orthophos? We tried it last year and were very impresed, as a replacement for 12-51. Easy to apply and very efficient compared to 12-51. Tissue samples taken at flag leaf showed no diff in phos levels. We also seen faster emergence, faster - ealier plant growth and 2-4 bus yeild advantage.
We were told alpine at 3 gal/ac would not be enough to replace 25 lbs/ac 12-51 but it was and more. 100% seed safe and instantly avail for plant uptake.
Our on farm fert trials have been very valuable and agree that every farm should do them. Most progressive guys do but they are still too heavily influanced by the mainsteam fert/seed/chem companies. Thinking outside the box on a few acres a year can pay off big dividends.
One other product we tried a few years ago is called "dynagrow" from bioagronics. A liquid fertilizer product that is applied at the time of sprying. Cost - about $5/ac. In the years we have seen an 8 bus/ac adv in peas, 4 bus/ac in can, and 4 bus/ac in hrsw with a .7% increase in protien. Also with dynagrow we cut herbicides by 30-60% with exellent results.

Explain to me why Anhydrous in ND is selling for canadian equivalent ton and Dollar difference etc and short ton to Canadian at .37 delivered to the farm.

Saskfarmer3 Yeah and why is gasoline cheaper in the US than in Canada? We extract it, pipeline it, refine it, then give it to the Americans, apparently cause the NFTA agreement says we got to, thanks Mr. Bulroney!!

Burbert We don’t “give” anything to the Americans. They pay full price.

I suspect that our gas at the pumps is higher because our governments require an additive to be present in Canadian fuel. The concentration of the additive varies across the country, and in most cases it is present in higher concentrations than what you find south of the border. The additive doesn’t help the engine in any way, does nothing to improve fuel economy, and is of course, taxes.
