Not sure exactly how you are pricing, but I know that most NH3 in the US is at the dealership and farmers tow their tanks in to get filled, whereas most NH3 in Canada is delivered to farm. There is obviously a large cost to deliver probably in the $100/tonne range.

Not sure how you have it priced, just want to make sure we are comparing apples to apples.

Just for the hell of it i'm going to try and calculate these numbers again just to clarify them for myself

NH3 FOB gulf 365/tonne usd (we are talking metric tonnes here right?)

          Freight to MB 120/tonne usd

so the total cost to get it to the dealer in mb should be 485/tonne usd

or 570/ tonne cdn should be the dealer cost

          or about $.32/lb

dealer margin is 4-6 cents/lb including delivery and tank.

          price should be $.36-.38/lb

I locked in my NH3 on jan 1 for $.32/lb
          including delivery and tank usage.

Do you agree with my calculations SF3?

I think you are right, why the big Increase in Canada?

The manufacturers did this last year as well. Then when spring came they were forced to drop their prices.

          ??????????

I think come spring prices will be .36-.40/lb full service. Really what does it mean to quote an anhydrous price in the dead of winter when nobody is using or taking delivery they can quote whatever the hell they want its not like people are buying!

A company I deal with pays $2400 Euro a year for this information. So most farmers wouldn't have it but its sure neat to see what is really happening on the world with Fert.
Its like the CWB the more information the Farmers have the less power they have. Information is what we need to control our destiny.

Saskfarmer 2 cents per pound works out to 50 dollars per ton in my calculation.

A smaller farmer could easily be paying a couple cents more than a larger farmer. So 100 dollars per ton could be.

Also I paid 36.5 cents per pound Jan1 delivery only for my farm 4500 acres. So I envy your price.

Hey guys, let the open market run its course. NEWSFLASH the big grain companies are gouging farmers, AGAIN. I say @##@them, we are going back to the old ways. They can keep their gas stored where the sun don't shine. Maybe we'll make it big with the carbon credits that are coming down the tube, maybe not!!

Karmickle the .02 deliver works out to $36.00 a ton or .01 cent at $18.00 ton.
your using a factor for granular fertilizer to get to 50.00 ton. (44.08)
The other wise guy, you make no sense at all.

SASKFARMER3, You know, we can go on for days comparing what you got and what I got, your deal and my deal, his deal, their deal. The fact is we are getting ripped off! Divide and conquer that is the way they do things. Guess what, it works, us farmers are such suckers. Maybe we should consult with the competition bureau? Now that will get results. Or better yet, we'll go offshore, yeah right you and me both. What are you going to do? Swim home with your pockets full of fertilizer. No what we are going to do, is cut down on the amounts we use, and go cap in hand to bankers and fertilizer suppliers, and pay through the nose, as usual. No wait enough is enough, I'll use the net and order some in from India, that should be simple enough... don't they ship with Fed X ... NOT!

Burbert, Why are you so negative you speak as if it is impossible for farmers to make money because we are getting screwed from every direction.
I agree farmers can get screwed if they don't watch out but so can the average
                              Joe.
That's Life you do the best you can and the more information we have the better.
