    canola seed orders cancelled

As of last night I cancelled all canola seed orders. Maybe these seed companys will get the message that they should take the hit of lowering grain prices also. Is it illegal to save your own canola seed and not use the chemical ie liberty link but just poast and muster etc. just my thoughts

Pro Farmer, I thought this Interesting - Bayer seed reps I have never seen before actually have to try and sell right now. For the first time in 12 years they have to be competetive and not just be order takers. Speaks volumes of what you stated. Also farmers should put the squeeze on Cargil, there is no price break on speacialty oil canola seed - just full blown high retail if you want in their program. Too many farmers get bedazeled by the program and forget to squeeze the seed cost. JMO

now I am no lawyer but no I do not believe it's illegal. With invigor, you can even still use liberty, just beware that if you don't buy seed, you may not get to purchase liberty.

Now with RR, I don't believe it is illegal to put the seed in the ground, it's illegal to make use of the RR trait, ie. spray with Round Up. Now don't quote me on this as I'm not positive, I just thought thats was the rules were.

amazing dealer went to his head boss and got 1.75 a lb off to stay with him I have alot more repect for him and his company, now the other company no deal I think if more farmers would do this BAYER WOULD BE FORCED to do the same.

I also heard that Bayer reps ARE out aggressivly selling seed right now when they would otherwise be sitting at home. I think that their advertising campaign of "always being sold out" has backfired on them a little bit. That, and the fact that the RR hybrids performed as good or better in 08. I think the guy with his nose pressed against the retail window waiting for InVigor seed will have LOTS of seed to grow come spring!

I am going to get on this tomorrow. I booked half my invigor for 7 bucks a lb.

We will see what price I can negotiate now. If they don't drop maybe I will probably brown bag the rest, go with a 50/50 mix.
